About the Programme
The Chinese Language Centre at HKU is a top-class destination for learning Chinese that is known for the teaching excellence of its staff and the exceptionally high standards of performance of its students. For many years, we have been dedicated to providing a wide range of Cantonese and Putonghua courses for HKU students and professionals from various fields in Hong Kong, and members of the wider community. Taking advantage of Hong Kong’s position at the cultural crossroads between the East and the West, the Centre serves as a world-class hub for the teaching and learning of Chinese as a foreign language and as an international institute for research and collaboration in the promotion of Chinese language studies, Chinese heritage, and cross-cultural exchange.
The Chinese Language Centre is honored to launch the Executive Programme in Chinese Language from 2024/25 academic year. The programme offers a comprehensive and rigorous series of Cantonese and Mandarin courses for professionals and others who want to develop their Chinese language skills. Our teaching materials employ authentic spoken Cantonese and/or Mandarin. Our teachers provide a satisfying and successful language learning experience through an array of diverse teaching methods and constructive feedback and assessments. And our courses will allow you to develop a solid foundation, and pave the way to higher levels of language use and further study.
The one-year programme consists of lectures plus Chinese culture immersion experiences. Classes are taught by experienced teachers, who are native speakers of Chinese. The teachers guide students in utilizing the language in real-world contexts, and develop their communication skills and appreciation of Chinese culture through lively, direct experience.
